Garden thoughts

April 6, 2011

Looking at my veggie garden today and thinking about all the work, energy, and intention that go into it with varying results… All this effort and still some of these plants don’t make it. Are they really so fragile that their very existence depends on my cultivation– and precision– for their survival? I mean, I know we’re all interdependent and all, but there’s something about garden cultivation that seems overly complicated and not very natural. And then there’s all the killing that goes along with cultivation– the ants, the worms, the grubs, the aphids, the garden snake I accidentally chopped in half with a hoe. A lot of death in life…
