About
I’m a full-time mother and some-times educator, writer, and community organizer. After many years in Brooklyn, NY and a brief year-long stint in southern Ontario, I now live with my husband, five-year-old son, and two-year-old daughter in Austin, TX. And I’m still trying to figure out how to raise my amazing kids and tread lightly on the earth. I started this blog to explore the notion of “green parenting.” Now, I prefer to think of it as sustainable living– how to live in a way that sustains all of us.
About the name… Of course, ‘breeder’ gets used as an irreverent name for one who produces babies, perhaps without concern for the kind of ecological footprint that ‘breeding’ makes. Yet I believe it’s possible to bring new life into this world in such a way that it does not have to destroy existing webs of life. And this is the way I’m trying to navigate– creating and nourishing not just the lives of my beloved babies, but all life on this precious planet.
